Starwatcher connects both sides of the table - Startups and investors.

How it works

Starwatcher is a community where you can find potential investors and share information about your company and progress.

Rules

• You are in charge of who sees what. This is double-opt in network - both sides have to accept connection to see each other content. Without your approval investors can see only general information about your company.
• Don't be spammy. You don't like it. We don't like it. No one likes spam. We have quite big database with investors but like with any relationship, not everyone is fit for you. Reach out to those who really might be a fit for you. Investors hate when they receive applications from startups who clearly haven't done bare minimum research.
• Give feedback. We are startup ourselves and always on a lookout for a way to improve experience in this universe. Just shoot a message to feedback at starwatcher.io

Recommendations

You have created your profile and once in a while - more often than you might think - Starwatcher goes through investor list and look for investors who's investment strategy overlaps with your company industry, stage, location. It doesn't mean that they are going to invest in your company but there could be something.

Investor list

You can roam investor database and look for investors who might be good fit. We try our best to find information about VCs. You can mark them Interesting, Archive or add to lists.

Interesting and Archive

This is a quick way to go through investor list and sort them. Mark companies as Archived if you don't want to see them anymore. Add them to Interesting, to have additional research later on. It's like your backlog. They will be out of results as you already are "in process" with this company.

Connect

Starwatcher is a community. You can connect with any investor on Starwatcher. If they accept your request, they will have an access to your calendar link, pitch deck and updates. You will have access to their calendar link. You can add a note to your connection request. Be short and to the point. Don't spam.

By sending connection request, you give access to your calendar link, deck and feed. If they accept your connection request, you have access to their calendar link and feed.

Note that not every profile is claimed by a vc (yet). We do reach out to VC's and tell that there is a request on a platform.

Lists

Be organised. Rome wasn't built in a day and the same applies to fund raising. It takes time.

• You can export a list. You have your own super secret set of magical tools you use for various tasks and we know that you love Excel. So here it is, you can export a list to a spreadsheet.

• You can follow VCs in a list. Each list has a feed where you can see updates from companies in a list.

Feed

Share your company updates and build your company history. Those updates don't have to be long essays (though, they can be 3000 characters long). Even short message about closing a key client, getting awesome feedback from first users, reaching revenue milestone, matter.

This is a place where you are growing your company history. Investors love to see progress over time. Every meeting, conversation with investor is a dot on company timeline. Over time investors can draw a line and see trajectory. Feed is a place where you can collect those dots. Should you share not so good things like decrease in revenue, user growth? Remember about that line thing. If you have a drop and than you coma back, it is one nice story.

There are two type of update visibility - Public or Connections.

Public can be seen by every Starwatcher user. It is a good way to share general news about company.

Connections means that updates can be seen only by your connections. Connect with investors you would like to work and share your progress and KPI's.

One more thing - don't lie. People will figure it out sooner or later.
